Pelin Halkacı Akın, Turkish violinist, was born in Istanbul and began studying violin with Prof. Nuri İyicil at the age of 8. After graduating from "State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul" she was invited to be konzertmeister of "Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony and Opera Orchestra, İstanbul". She attended to masterclasses with Prof. Jean Fournier at "Mozarteum Sommerakademie, Salzburg" and in İstanbul. In 2000 she participated in "Keshet Eilon Violin Masterclasses 2000, 2001 and 2002" and had lessons with Slomo Mintz, Ida Haendel, Ani Schnarch and Vadim Gluzman. At the end of the course she has awarded with a loan violin for one year which was made in 1907 in Italy by Gaetano Pollastri. In 2003 she became a faculty member in “Keshet Eilon 2003”.
Pelin participated in "Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester" in 1997, 98 and 99.As a member of "G.M.J.O." she played under buton of Claudio Abbado, Seiji Osawa, Semyon Bychkov, Piérre Boulez and Danielle Gatti in world's most important concert halls like "Royal Albert Hall London, Cité de la Musique Paris, Hercullessaal München, Berliner Filarmoniker" and festivals like "Salzburg, Edinbourgh, Tanglewood, Lucerne, B.B.C. Proms, Bolzano and Aix-en-Provence".
In 1997 she made the opening concert of "2nd International Youth Festival" of "Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall, Istanbul". Later she made recitals in "23rd and 26th International Istanbul Music Festival" and “23rd International Ankara Music Festival”, played concerts in different cities of Turkey, in England, in Hungary, in Rumania, in Georgia, in Cyprus and in Israel.
Pelin had performed several times with Turkey's leading orchestras like "Presidental Symphony (Ankara), Istanbul, Antalya, Çukurova (Adana), Bursa State Symphony Orchestras”, “Eskisehir” and “Cemal Reşit Rey” Symphony Orchestra”, “Borusan” and “Mersin Chamber Orchestra” and ENKA Sinfonietta".
She played I.Stravinsky’s “Soldier’s Tale” with Borusan Chamber Orchestra in “Budapest Spring Festival 2001”. In following years she played as soloist with “Savaria Symphony Orchestra” in Hungary, with "Tbilisi Opera Orchestra" in Georgia and with “Arad State Philarmonic Orchestra” in Rumania.
Pelin has been teaching violin as a Ass.Professor at "State Conservatory of M.S.U., Istanbul" and konzertmeister of "Borusan Istanbul Philarmonic Orchestra" and "Borusan Chamber Orchestra" since 1999. She is currently playing with a Nicolo Gagliano violin of 1761 which was given to her by Borusan Holding.
